Fairbairn’s team included lead Gary Annhill, second Larry Mueller and third Jim Loy.
“I got to thank those guys, they worked really hard. Every game could have gone any way and we were lucky,” Fairbairn said.
He also appreciated all who made the bonspiel possible, including Bryan Winter for making the ice.
Fairbairn is a regular at the Olds Curling Club on Wednesdays. He has participated in the Senior Bonspiel for more than 15 years but this was the first time he led his own team.
The Doug Manning rink of Olds won the B event. The C event went to the Al Molnar rink of Carstairs. The Al Graham rink of Olds took the D event.
Twenty-eight rinks entered the spiel, about the same as last year, officials say.
The bonspiel ran for four days, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12.
