A frequent Mountain View County resident and a friend ñ last known to live in Calgary ñ have been arrested after an incident in rural Olds.

Shaylene Kendra McCauley, 18, and Kacy Cedrick Savoie. 30, were arrested May 16 after Olds RCMP responded at about midnight to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Rge. Rd. 21.

ìA male and a female were found inside the vehicle. The police approached the male driver. He stepped on the gas to try to get away, but he forgot to put it into drive, so both of them were arrested,î Cpl. Michael Black says.

Black says there is no fixed address for McCauley but ìshe frequents Didsbury, Olds and Innisfail.î He says Savoie is last known to have lived in Calgary.

Both are charged jointly with possession of stolen property over $5,000 — a 2013 Range Rover ñ and possession of stolen property under $5,000 ñ a licence plate.

In addition, McCauley faces five charges of allegedly breaking conditions that enabled her to be released from custody previously.

Savoie faces four such charges as well as a charge of driving while disqualified.

Their case initially came up in court in Calgary on May 18. They’re due in court again on May 31.
