Offering hope

Depression, despair and suicidal thoughts don’t discriminate. No one is immune. Olds’ Andrea Hawiuk, a dedicated group of volunteers and generous benefactors are, for the second year, offering inspiration, good food, music, and hope. The Conversation has to happenÖagain conference, will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites in Olds. It’s free of charge.

Darrel Janz will host again. There will be speakers offering insight into depression, despair, suicide, addiction, abuse, recovery, coping and success stories. A panel discussion near the end will offer time for questions and discussion. Last year’s full house determined the need. The positive reviews that followed confirmed it had to be offered again.

Keynote speaker, Mike Ryan, of Clean Scene, works with youths dealing with drugs and crime. Ryan will share his painful, but powerful story of poverty, trauma, crime, addiction and recovery. He’s dedicated his life to offering troubled young people healthy alternatives.

If you are depressed, suicidal, have a family member or friend in despair, or just want to learn more, please attend. It’s a powerful, thought-provoking, all-day event: check-in starts at 8 a.m. The Conversation has to happenÖagain conference starts at 9 a.m. To register phone Meryl Matchullis at 403-335-3006 or email
