Friday the 13th was actually a good day for the Olds Grizzlys. They beat the Grande Prairie Storm 4-2 in Carstairs.
Unfortunately, that didn’t last long.
They were shut out 5-0 at home by the Fort McMurray Oil Barons the next night.
As a result, the Grizzlys are in seventh place in the eight-team Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Viterra South division with five wins and seven losses in 13 games.
Technically, the team is tied with the Camrose Kodiaks, who also have 11 points, but have only played 12 games, compared to the Grizzlys 13. As of Monday, the Kodiaks’ record stood at four wins, five losses and three overtime losses.
The Grizzlys remained one point up on the Calgary Mustangs, who have five wins, eight losses in 13 games.
Things don’t get any easier for the Grizzlys as they go on a two-game road trip this weekend, beginning Friday with a matchup against the top team in the Viterra South, the Okotoks Oilers, who have 11 wins, one loss in 12 games.
Then on Sunday, Oct. 22, they face off against the Eagles in Canmore. As of Monday, they were in fourth place in the Viterra south with seven wins and six losses and one overtime loss for 15 points in 14 games.
