The Broncos men's basketball team finds itself in a three-way tie for first in the ACAC South after a narrow loss to the Red Deer College Kings this weekend at the Ralph Klein Centre.
Olds College, Medicine Hat College and Red Deer College all have 14-5 records with one weekend of play left.
On Saturday, the Kings managed to outgun the division's most potent offence, 111-109.
Olds College fell behind by double digits in the first half but managed to shoot itself back into the game, finishing 11-22 from behind the arc.
"That's what we hang our hat on. We're a very good shooting team. We shoot the ball very well in our own building and it's uncharacteristic for us to shoot less than 40 per cent from the three point line," said associate head coach Stephen Anthony.
The Broncos were led once again by point guard Wayne Tucker Jr., who scored 41 points, with 17 coming from the free-throw line.
"He's such a strong, physical athlete that once he gets into the lane, it's hard to stop him and the only way to do that is to foul him," Anthony said.
It was the fifth time this season that Tucker had scored 40 points or more.
The Broncos host a back-to-back against MHC, at 8 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
