Edmonton man facing several charges
An Edmonton man is facing several charges following an alleged assault on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway on July 29. RCMP received several 911 calls about a driver assaulting a female passenger near the Bowden overpass at about 5:45 p.m. Upon locating the vehicle, police suspected the 22-year-old male driver to be impaired. The driver refused to comply with the demand for a breath sample and was charged. Police also charged Steven Lavergne-Carriere with one count of assault and forcible confinement for not allowing his female passenger to exit the vehicle when she requested to do so.
Upon further examination of the vehicle, the member also charged Lavergne-Carriere with possession of controlled substances, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of uttering threats, mischief to property under $5,000 and operating a vehicle without a valid licence. Lavergne-Carriere will be appearing in court August 20.
B.C. man charged with impaired
Police observed a male driving a vehicle on Highway 27 through town that was exceeding the speed limit on August 1 at about 11:15 p.m. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the member noticed a smell of alcohol on the 33-year-old Abbotsford, B.C. manís breath. The male failed the breath test and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The man was given an immediate licence suspension and his vehicle was seized for three days. He will be appearing in Didsbury court on August 27.
Didsbury woman facing charges
In the early morning hours of August 4, a vehicle being driven by a 20-year-old Didsbury woman was pulled over for an equipment violation while she was driving on 50 Avenue in the area of 54 Street. Upon conducting the stop, the member detected an odor of liquor on the womanís breath as well as signs of impairment. She is facing a charge of being over 80 milligrams per cent.
Police looking for assistance
Police are asking for the publicís assistance in trying to determine who stole a white 2009 GMC Sierra from Vermont Close sometime between August 7 and the early morning hours of August 8. The truck, which has Penn West decals on the rear door windows, was recovered, but police would like to speak to anyone who may have information about the crime. Shotgun stolen from pickup
Sometime between 8 p.m. on August 7 and 8 a.m. the following morning, a 12-gauge Dominion Arms pump-action shotgun was stolen from a white 2002 Ford F-250 pickup while it was parked in the yard of Sunset Mechanical on 47 Avenue. Two wheels were also missing from a second vehicle that was parked in the yard, a white 2004 GMC Yukon.
